About Image Cropper

Image Cropper trims an image to the area you want and removes the rest. Use a preset aspect ratio — square 1:1, 4:3 or widescreen 16:9 — or enter exact X, Y, width and height values for precise results.

It is useful for profile pictures, thumbnails, product photos and anywhere a fixed shape is required. Everything is processed in your browser.

When to use it

  • Square profile photos for social media and messaging apps.
  • 16:9 thumbnails for YouTube and presentations.
  • Removing unwanted edges or backgrounds from photos.
  • Cropping scanned documents and receipts.

Tips for better results

  • Use the 1:1 preset for avatars and Instagram posts.
  • Leave a little space around the subject so it does not feel cramped.
  • Resize after cropping to get exact output dimensions.

How to use the Image Cropper

  1. Drop your image.
  2. Choose an aspect ratio preset or enter X, Y, width and height manually.
  3. Click Crop and download.

Frequently asked questions

What do X and Y mean?

X is the distance from the left edge and Y is the distance from the top edge of the image, both in pixels.

Is the file uploaded?

No. Cropping happens in your browser.

Is there a file size limit?

The limit is shown in the drop area (typically 30–50 MB per image). It exists only to keep your browser responsive — the file is processed on your device and never uploaded. Very large photos are faster to process on a computer than on an older phone.

Does cropping reduce image quality?

No. Cropping keeps the original pixels in the area you select. Only the part outside the crop is removed.
