About PDF Watermark

A watermark is text stamped across each page — for example “CONFIDENTIAL”, “DRAFT”, “SAMPLE” or your company name. It discourages unauthorised copying and makes the status of a document obvious.

Set the text, color, opacity and angle, then apply it to every page. Processing is local to your browser, so confidential documents are never uploaded.

When to use it

  • Marking drafts and review copies.
  • Protecting portfolios, designs and proposals shared with clients.
  • Labelling copies of ID documents with their purpose (“For bank account opening only”).
  • Branding documents with your company name.

Tips for better results

  • Use 20–30% opacity so the watermark is visible but the content stays readable.
  • A diagonal angle (around 45°) is harder to crop out.
  • Add the purpose and date when sharing ID copies to reduce misuse.

How to use the PDF Watermark

  1. Drop your PDF.
  2. Enter your watermark text and adjust color, opacity and angle.
  3. Click Apply Watermark and download.

Frequently asked questions

Can I add an image watermark?

Currently only text watermarks are supported in the browser-side tool.

Will the watermark cover the whole page?

The watermark text is centered on each page and rotated at the angle you choose. Adjust opacity to keep content readable underneath.

Do I need to install anything?

No. It works in any modern browser on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iPhone. Processing uses your device, so very large files are faster on a computer than on an older phone.

Can a watermark be removed?

A text watermark makes casual reuse much harder, but determined users with PDF editing software may be able to remove it. For sensitive material, combine watermarks with limited sharing.
