Frequently asked questions
Is this before or after tax?
Before tax. Use the Tax Calculator with your own brackets to estimate take-home pay.
How many working hours are in a year?
At 40 hours a week for 52 weeks it is 2,080 hours. Reduce paid weeks per year if you have unpaid leave.
Why is my monthly salary not exactly the yearly amount divided by 12?
It usually is for salaried jobs. For hourly pay, months have different numbers of working days, so monthly earnings vary. The calculator shows an average month.
How many paid weeks should I use?
Use 52 for full-time salaried roles with paid leave. For hourly or freelance work, subtract unpaid holidays and expected gaps between projects.
